I have heard that some people with chronic Lyme Disease who have had antibiotic treatment tried a gluten-free diet, and it seemed to help ease some symptoms. It wasn’t a cure or treatment but rather aided in reducing inflammation thus reducing some symptoms. After some research, it appears that gluten, among other inflammation sources, can be inflammatory for those who have Lyme disease just as it is for those of us who have celiac, gluten sensitivity, or a wheat allergy. Although it might not work for everyone with chronic Lyme disease, if eliminating gluten from your diet can help ease some symptoms, why not try it? If you have experience with Lyme disease and a gluten-free diet, let me know how it went for you.
